Craftastic!!

Recently i've been trying to spend a little bit more time creating art just for fun. It's almost therapeutic for me to turn on some music and dive into stacks of paper and ribbon and just let my mind free to wander and create. I'm especially into "recycled art" which is where I can take a discarded item and turn it into a piece of art.
My first experiment with recycled art is these cute glass bracelets that I made with my friend Brekke. They started out as an old bottle which we cut into rectangle pieces to showcase our mini collages. The bottles work perfectly because they are already curved for your wrist. We soldered the edges and added metal rings to tie the ribbon and viola ~ our pretty recycled bracelets.

I first met Lindsay & Caroline when I shot their holiday photos with their big brother Ryan and now i'm back to celebrate the twins 2nd birthday. There was an intimate family party with great food and lots of laughter. I was so happy to be a part of it.
Here are a ton of photos from the day starting out with the girls on their new cell phones. It was so neat to see the differences in the girls personalities. Lindsay would slowly examine each gift and had to be coaxed to move on and open another gift.
While Caroline tore through her pile of gifts and then moved on to Lindsay's. It was really cute.

It's really tough to sit on the sidelines and watch other kids open presents.


Then it was cake time!

We were even able to cram in little bit of portrait time with the cousins.

Two by two!

I just adore this family. You might recognize twins Lucy and Gage from a previous post. I had the pleasure of shooting their momma Marcy's maternity photos a few moths ago. Now they have welcomed 2 more little babies into their lives and just wait till you see these adorable baby boys!

I just love the connection between Lucy and Gage.

I'm still alive...but barely

I know I have been totally MIA lately. I have been traveling in the Midwest the last couple weeks. First, to Iowa to work on a top secret project with the cutest kids over at Grimes Elementary School (more on that later). Then on to Nebraska to visit some more family and friends. After my whirlwind, energy zapping trip I vowed that when I got home I would put on sweatpants and not leave the house (or even the couch) for 2 whole days. I guess I should have been more specific that I also wanted it to be enjoyable because here I still sit 4 days later (sadly, in the same sweatpants) while the worst sinus infection is actively kicking my butt. Thank god I ordered Season 3 of LOST because otherwise I would be in a pile of mush on my living room floor. I'll spare you the rest of the details.
I'm starting to slowly emerge from the darkside and thought I would share a few of my photos from Nebraska. I stayed several days with my friend Monica and couldn't help but get some photos of her youngest Gavin and their sweet dogs.
